So, a random chit-chatty topic:
With the implementation of the new LFG, I've starting pugging again after...probably a few years, frankly. (And I'm a healer so I have instant queues...bahaha.) Generally, I've been impressed with how quick and smooth the majority of my random LFG groups seem to go, although there's still the occasional bad apple.
Of course, I am noticing there are different kinds of bad apples and I am wondering what fellow SGA'ers think are the worst kinds. For example:
- The skilled @$$hole - The l33t-geared, clueless DPS - The slow tank - The AFK'er - etc. etc. (please add more!)
Mercifully, the ease of the instances combined with the abundance of high iLevel gear makes it so you can get almost any instance even with two or three braindead group members.
So, if you had to take your pick, which are your most and least favorite unideal group members? E.g. do you prefer polite people or skilled, attentive people?
For me personally, I've decided I prefer the jerk who granted knows what he's doing-- because it means I'll get in and out of there quickly, which is much more valuable to me than being stuck in HoL for forty minutes with even the nicest of folks. And if you don't know what you're doing at first, I don't mind...but when you've just broken CC for the fifth time in a row and consistently put your pet on the one out of six targets that we told you NOT to touch...I really have no sympathy, no matter how nice you are. I'm a grouch.
Though slow tanks realllllllllly annoy me. Especially paladin tanks who drink after every pull when they have 85% mana. I tend to start pulling and then they get mad at me.
My favorite bad PuGer, recently, was a totally immature, arrogant warrior who performed well enough, but then decided he'd be "sneaky" at the end and rolled need-immediately dropped group on the Frozen Orb. Enjoy your 5g, buddy...kek.
Anyways, complain away!

Quote: The skilled @$$hole
I was doing a SM Armory run on my Mage, and the tank
got upset at me for pulling an extra two mobs when he was
going slow. So I just sucked it up and went slowly for the
rest of the run. During the fight against Herod, I stayed up
by the door to DPS. Now of course, once Herod goes down
a bunch of lame NPCs spawn and run into the room
through that very same door. The tank, gleefully happy at
my impending doom, said something like "HAHAHAHA
MAGE U GONNA DIE." Of course being a frost mage, I
handled 'em with nary a scratch.
Ok that sounded incredibly lame now that I write it out, but
it made me happy at the time.
That being said, I do prefer skilled jerks to friendly
unskilled people - the exception being "pro tanks" who are
good, but control freaks. I hate it when tanks can't handle
fun and safe chaos.
Another stereotype:
The drunken/high player, who undoubtedly will announce
themselves as such

Min/maxing and theory sites exist to help people find these ways, not to encourage diversity."

I had a ret pally with like 18k health DPSing with Rightous Fury on. I asked her to take it off. I was healing at the time. She pulled aggro on an AoE pull and died. Yelled at me then quit the group.
Worst type: jerks that suck and think they are pro. (edit: why I refuse to run with Sheld. Jerk. Sucky jerk. I hate you)
Now the BEST pugs are the delightful RPing freaks.

While leveling my least favorite pugger is the "I picked healing or tanking to get into a run fast but my gear is way out of date and not actually gear for the role I'm doing." Here's looking at you Blood DK w/o tank talents or tank gear in Mana Tombs.
The person who rolls on gear that drops that's not for their current role and it's a huge upgrade for the person doing that role (plate dps'r winning tank gear). I'm sorry but the justification of "This isn't a raid, relax" is total BS and you're only using it because the item you now suddenly need dropped even though you're not there for that role.
and last...
The healer who screws up and blames the tank for something that was obviously poor class understanding then yells and screams and breaks the group before bailing. The run was an at level A:OK. We're at the first pull and the druid put every hot in the spell book on the tanking paladin. The paladin went in and dropped concentration and all the spiders but the one that he was meleeing bee lined for the druid due to healing aggro. The druid started screaming about the tank needing to aggro before any of the rest of us died. Sure with a Frost Death Knight or a Warrior's Thunder doohicky you can front load a lot of hots but yeah it was hilarious. I wasn't even able to explain that the druid didn't want to heavy load the hots like that till after the tank locked in aggro before everyone but the tank and I had left the group.

Least favorite type: The Nerd Rager
Ran with one of them today. A DK tank with a gear score around 3k, and his buddy the faithful puppy Resto Druid. The rest of the group was myself, a Warlock with issues and a browbeaten Ret Pally. The DK cannot hold aggro, the Warlock peals off a mob or two, and they swear at him and vote to kick him. The Paladin is forced to tank a few mobs due to the aggro issues and they browbeat him for the rest of the run. The Druid refuses to heal anyone who pulls aggro, and will not rez anyone. In the end I did 50% of the total damage, off healed the poor Pally, and did all the rez'ing. Gave 'em a lecture at the end and left the instance.
Second least favorite: The Premade Thieving Ring
3 or 4 people form a group and agree to roll Need on any epics.
Favorite type: The Professional Tank.
Silent, knows exactly what to kill first, marks targets until you are in sync with him, then trusts you to follow his lead.

Er... not to derail, but that tank sounds pretty terrible. Any tank should be able to grab a pull off of any healing aggro a druid might generate at the start with few exceptions.

- The skilled @$$hole - The AFK'er
Those are my top two anoyances...
Regarding the first, there's never any need for arrogance in a game. It's a *game*.
Regarding the second, deliberately wasting people's time, especially because you don't know them and don't care what they think, is particularly vile.
